So We're Jewish, Now What?

For those of you who attended the Sanchez Family
Reunion, or those who have heard our cousin Dr. Dell Sanchez speak, or read any of his books, you will have learned at some point that our family has Hebraic Roots. Chances are, many of the Latin, Hispanic people you know have these same roots.
If you have not heard Dell’s information on our family
history, I strongly suggest that you visit his website at www.4sephardim.com You can also order books and/or DVD’s on the subject of the Sephardic Jews.
So what does it mean to us personally? I noticed that many family members at the reunion wore Star of David’s, myself included. I also wore tzit tzits, or tassels on the 4 corners of my garment based on Num. 15:38 and Deut. 22:12.
But what else? Do we start following the Rabbis and the Talmud? As the Apostle Paul or Shaul would say, “Elohim forbid!”
Do we give up on Yahshua (Jesus) the Messiah? Again, “Elohim forbid!”
Do we ignore our Jewish roots and what it all means? “Elohim forbid!”
So what do we do?
This newsletter has a 2-fold purpose. First, it’s simply another way for us as a family to stay connected. Second, it will be a way to offer information and articles on Israel and on how to connect both our Christian beliefs we were brought up in and the Hebrew roots we have discovered.
If for some reason you wish to be taken off the email list, simply send me an email and I will remove your name from the list. If there are other family members who wish to be added send me their email address and I will add them on. Feel free to print this out for any family members who do not have internet access.
This newsletter will attempt to answer the questions, “So We’re Jewish, now what?” I welcome your feedback and comments as long as it’s done according to Scripture, in love.
In His Service,
Saya

Eliyahu Hanavi by Moshav Band

Eliyahu Hanavi

Here are the Hebrew and English words for the first song. It is a traditional Pasach / Passover song sung at Seders. However not usually so hip!
Eliyahu hanavi Eliyahu hatishbi, Eliyahu hagil'adi - Bim'hera yavoh eleinu, im Mashiach ben David. (x2)
Elijah the prophet Elijah the returning, Elijah the giladi - May he soon come to us, with the Messiah son of David. (x2)

Bereshit / Genesis 1

The second song is Bereshit or Genesis 1. I am still working on getting the lyrics but here's a start.
Bereshit barah Elohim et hashamayim ve et ha’aretzVeha’aretz hayta tohu vavohu vechoshech al pnei hatehom.
In the beginning Elohim created the Heaven and the Earth. And the Earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep.
Vayia’ar Elohim ki tov. And Elohim saw, and, behold, it was very good.
